Capcom GFWL Games Transitioning to Steamworks

By Rebecca Smith, 2 years ago
After news arrived late last week that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II had transitioned out of Games for Windows LIVE and had moved on to Steamworks, we now bring news of three more titles that will soon be following a similar path. Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 5 (PC), Dead Rising 2 (PC) and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record (PC) will be coming to Steamworks early next year.

Players who already own these games will find themselves moved over to Steamworks versions. Although it wasn't specifically mentioned, this implies that Games for Windows LIVE functionality will cease to exist for these three titles. There are no specific dates for the transfer at the moment, but Capcom has promised more information "once [they] have specific dates ironed out". This leaves players with nearly four months to get all of the games' achievements at the very least, but we would advise that you try to earn your gamerscore sooner rather than later.
