The Crew Beta Goes Live

The Beta for Ubisoft's much-anticipated racer The Crew is now live. For those of you ready to get your hands on the wheel, you can sign up here.

While we've had a lot of information on this game already, we've learned a little more. Interested in some Faction Wars? In The Crew, Faction Wars are their version of player vs. player, but according to Gary Steinman, Sr. Communications Manager for Ubisoft, it's much more than simple PvP.

Early on in the campaign, players will gain access to this aspect of the game, at which point they can join one of five factions. This opens up a range of missions, some of which can be played solo and others with a crew. As players win these missions, they’ll rank up within their chosen faction. They’ll also earn more cash, which can be used to expand their garage and upgrade their vehicles. Being part of a faction has two overarching benefits. First, as a faction does better overall, more missions are unlocked. Second, if you’re part of the faction with the most reputation points in your region at the end of the month, you’ll receive additional rewards and access to exclusive content (along with other members of your faction).
In addition, there's just the plain fun of pitting a team of four human drivers from one crew against four human drivers of another team, encouraging both cooperation and competition as you vie for top team in your region.

At launch, the game will have 25 Factions missions with more added monthly. Players may switch factions as often as they wish during the first three weeks of each month, but one must be careful about jumping too much from team to team since this will affect what rewards are earned at the end of the month.

The Crew will release worldwide on November 11th.
