Rockstar has confirmed that a re-released, Games on Demand version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available for purchase this Sunday, October 26th. Rumors had been swirling about a possible re-release for the game's 10th anniversary since the Xbox Originals version of the game was removed from the Xbox Marketplace. The upgraded version will contain 720p resolution, enhanced draw distance, and 33 Achievements. In celebration of the game's anniversary and re-release, GTA Online will have a San Andreas Anniversary Weekend running from tomorrow, Friday October 24th to Sunday, October 26th when the game releases.

As a side note to those who may own the Xbox Originals version of San Andreas, be aware that the two versions are not compatible with one another, which means that save files will not transfer over. Owners of the Xbox Originals version still have the ability to download and play the game through their download history.

GTA San Andreas Weekend

During the weekend, players will earn Double RP and Double GTA$ by playing the "San Andreas Throwback Jobs" Featured Playlist, whether you win or lose. Exclusive retro t-shirts, representing four of the San Andreas radio stations: Bounce FM, K-DST, K-JAH, and K-Rose, will be dropped via Crate Drops in Freemode sessions along with the usual weapons and GTA$. Discounts of 50% will be applied to all green clothing as well as BMX bikes, bandannas, and other accessories, and a discount of 25% will be applied to lowered suspension vehicle mods. Lastly, there will be a #GTASanAndreas Snapmatic contest that can net you a prize pack containing a San Andreas themed Basketball bandanna, special 10th anniversary t-shirts, Playing Cards & Poker Chips, the Kubrick Box Set, and stickers. Just tag your photos with #GTASanAndreas to enter; the official rules can be found here.
