Sunset Overdrive Offers Free 24-hour Trial

Major Nelson has revealed today that Insomniac Games' console-exclusive Sunset Overdrive will be free-to-play tomorrow, November 22nd, to all Xbox LIVE Gold Subscribers.

Let's be completely clear on what this means. Starting November 22nd at 12:01AM Eastern, anyone with an Xbox LIVE Gold account can download and play the fully-enabled version of Sunset Overdrive, which clocks in at 23.17GB. This is not a demo, but the whole game, complete with achievements. The catch is that after the 24 hour period is over, the game reverts back to its normal, pay-for status. Your progress will save, however, so if you choose to purchase the full game at a later date, you can pick up where you left off.

In addition to the core game, Chaos Squad, the 8-player cooperative multiplayer portion of the game, will be unlocked. You typically have to progress some way into the campaign to open Chaos Squad, so this is intended to give people a taste and to possibly sway their decision to eventually purchase the game.

Do you intend to try out the unlocked Sunset Overdrive? Let us know in the comments!
