The Pillars of the Earth Coming To Consoles

By Joshua Rust,
Daedalic Entertainment has just announced their new game titled The Pillars of the Earth. For those of you who don't know, "The Pillars of the Earth" is a best-selling novel by Ken Follett that is set in the fictional English city Kingsguard during the 12th century, and is centered around political and religious conflict in medieval times. The book was followed by a sequel in 2007, the first being released in 1989, and a television mini-series staring Donald Sutherland.

Founder of Daedalic Entertainment, Carsten Fichtelmann, had this to say about The Pillars of the Earth:

We are very aware of and feeling the responsibility that comes along with this project: ‘The Pillars of the Earth’ is one of world literature’s most-read and best-selling books, and comes with a large and long-lasting base of millions of fans. To meet their high expectations of our game will be a tremendous challenge – but one we are very eager to face. Together with Bastei Lübbe and Ken Follett we determined that the genre of adventure games is the best and most suitable way to adapt and express the substantial depth of such a historical novel. Adventure games are interactive literature, and we at Daedalic dedicated ourselves to the perfection of this genre’s playing experience. We are very happy and feel extremely honored that our work is being acknowledged by one of the world’s best-selling authors, and to be allowed to take his work into interactivity.
The Pillars of the Earth is set to release on Xbox One in 2017; and will coincide with the release of the third book in series.

Have any of you read this series? If so, how well do you think it will translate into the videogame format?

Hello everyone! I joined the Newshound group of TrueAchievements back in June 2013. Gaming has always been a passion of mine, up until recently I was a huge score-whore but have recently slacked off a bit. Not to brag or anything, but I do hold the top position in TA Score among the Newshounds (much to Michelle's displeasure...lol). I'm always up for boosting some of the older multiplayer games, so if you need help I'll try to find time in my schedule to help out! I'm also a huge Marvel Comics fan and Moon Knight is my favorite character, period. Excelsior!
