Alien: Isolation Updates Bring New Game Modes

By Damien Knox, 1 year ago
While game developers do try to satisfy a multitude of gaming tastes by offering multiple difficulties within a game, this apparently wasn't the case with Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation. While the game has been generally well received, gamers were voicing concerns that they either wanted a more difficult and terrifying experience, or that they wanted one that was less stressful, permitting them to better explore Sevastopol. The developer has listened to these requests and, with the most recent game update, has added two new game modes: Nightmare and Novice.

In the new Nightmare mode, the motion tracker will have a damaged display and, even worse, the information it presents will be unreliable. Map systems are also offline, making navigation difficult. Other survivors and synthetics will also do more to take you down. As if all of that wasn't bad enough, the Alien will be an even keener hunter, featuring better AI with better adaptability to your survival tactics.

If all that sounds like it will be too much for you, you can always run the new Novice mode. Take what you read above and dial it way down and this is what you get - More ammo, more resources, less to fear from synthetics, and a more forgiving Alien. This mode will also give you more opportunity to take time and explore the landscape.

Both of these new game modes are freely available via a game update that is already live on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
