Hot off of Yacht Club Games' Twitter
is the news that Phil Spencer's beloved Battletoads will also be coming to Shovel Knight
when it hits Xbox One.
Strap in, boys and girls, because you're about to go down a rabbit hole of retro awesomeness. If you're agnostic about your gaming experience, you've probably heard of Shovel Knight
, the retro-action-platform game from Yacht Club Games. You might have even played it on PC, 3DS, or WiiU. Unfortunately for us who stick to Microsoft platforms, we haven't had the chance to dig into the adventure of Shovel Knight and his mystical Shovel Blade. That will be changing at some point in the future when the game makes its release on to the Xbox One through the ID@Xbox program, but in addition to the base game, Yacht Club Games have announced today that Shovel Knight
will be getting an expansion called "Plague of Shadows" that will include a brand-new playable character, Plague Knight, the villainous master of alchemy, in "an explosive quest with a new play style, new story, new bosses, and more!"
Before we get into the new hotness of "Plague of Shadows", let's show off a quick trailer of the base game (along with some of its accolades) to bring everyone up to speed.
Now that you've gotten a quick taste of the game, we have some screenshots of "Plague of Shadows".
"Plague of Shadows" will be included in Shovel Knight
when it gets its Xbox One release... which has not yet been announced.
Finally, "Plague of Shadows" will have a playable demo for PAX East attendees at booth 6224.
