Just as with any sporting game franchise, we can always count on an annual release for the golf lovers out there. In fact, pretty much since the dawn of Xbox 360 time, Tiger Woods has had his name on the product, starting all the way back with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 06. With time comes change, however, and following the announcement back in 2013 that EA and Tiger Woods had ended their partnership, a new face will now be attached to the PGA Tour franchise. We now know who that person is as EA has revealed EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.

EA also revealed that Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be the first game in the series developed on the Frostbite engine. While it is unsurprising that a new engine will lead to better visuals, it may surprise gamers to learn that the engine also allows an entire course to be rendered at once, thus eliminating load times between holes. It also allows players to take shots from nearly anywhere as opposed to facing some of the restrictions that they faced in previous titles.
