OutRun To Retire From XBLA

By DavieMarshall, 6 years ago
The XBLA title OutRun Online Arcade has run into licensing issues with Ferrari, and of course, for a game featuring Ferraris, that's a fairly large problem. As the contract between the car manufacturer and SEGA expires, so too does the prospect of gamers being able download the title from XBLA in the future, whilst the PSN was hit it's immediate removal.

Here's the official statement from SEGA given exclusively to Eurogamer:

Due to the expiry of the contract with Ferrari, OutRun Online Arcade will remain offline on PSN but will still be available on XBLA until Dec 2011.
With December 2011 being the alleged 'cut off' date for XBLA, you've still plenty of time to pick this up, but what about those of you who have already downloaded the title? How will this affect you?

The story as it it's being told at the moment is that you will not be affected, and your copy of the game will continue to work as normal. However, there is no official statement on this at the moment.
