Disney Infinity 3.0 Visits A Galaxy Far, Far Away

By Mark Delaney, 1 year ago
Here's news that will surprise no one: Disney Infinity is getting another sequel, and this time gamers can explore the vastness of George Lucas' sci-fi epic, Star Wars. The announcement seemed inevitable now that Disney owns the rights to the franchise, and this is, after all, the year of Star Wars.

There's a lot to learn about the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, first of all is what comes in the starter pack. The base edition of Infinity 3.0 will include Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, of The Clone Wars fame, in a story that takes place around the time of Episode II. That set is called Twilight of the Republic, and it's one of three announced Star Wars sets, as well as Rise Against The Empire and the movie tie-in set, The Force Awakens.

It's not all Star Wars that's new either. Avengers: Age of Ultron, TRON, and Pixar's next predestined blockbuster, Inside Out, are all coming to Infinity too. Characters from both the original trilogy and prequel trilogy of Star Wars are on their way, and it's safe to assume the Episode VII play set will bring with it some new faces too.

The game is the combined effort of several studios. Ninja Theory is working on the lightsaber battles, United Front is handling all the incoming Avengers add-ons, and Sumo Digital is improving the vehicle controls.

For some, the most exciting news of all is that the starter pack will launch at a reduced price of $64.99, or your regional equivalent. You can look for Infinity 3.0 to launch this fall, and additional play sets and characters to release over the months that follow.

Thanks to everyone, Jedi and Sith, that sent in this story to us.
