Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Xbox One Bound

Fans of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night have some news to be really excited about today. Koji Igarashi, Assistant Director for the title and one of the lead minds that spawned the whole genre of "Metroidvania" style games, launched a Kickstarter today for his upcoming project, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Like SotN, Bloodstained is "an exploration-focused, side-scrolling platformer featuring RPG and crafting elements".

In a matter of mere hours, not only did the Kickstarter smash through its initial $500,000 goal, but every stretch goal has also been reached, meaning that additional benefits, such as a Nightmare mode and local co-op, will be coming to the game. As of now, details are just starting to be filled in, but here's the story so far:

You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist curse which slowly crystallizes your skin. You must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh.

In addition to Miriam and Gebel, who will be voiced by David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake in the first four Metal Gear Solid titles, Johannes was also revealed. He is an alchemist that is also Gebel's close friend.

Igarashi isn't the only major player already involved in the game's production. As mentioned above, David Hayter is already confirmed for the voice cast. Michiru Yamane, who brought us the Castlevania: SotN score will be contributing music to the title. Ippo Yamada, a composer who was responsible for a dozen Mega Man titles, will also be joining the staff for the game.

Backer rewards are expected to ship in March 2017, which indicates that the date is the release window for Bloodstained's debut on Xbox One. Keep in mind, however, that this isn't a firm release as games often miss that window (Mighty No. 9, for example, missed it's anticipated April 2015 delivery). At the $28 level, a digital copy of the game will be received. For $60, a physical disc is available. As more details are released about the game, we'll be sure to bring them to you.

Thanks to the members of the community who sent this one in!
