We brought you the LEGO Dimensions
announcement last month
, introducing LEGO's foray into the figurine-enhanced-games market currently dominated by Disney Infinity
We now have more details about the initial waves of 'funpacks', LEGO Dimensions
' own spin on the interactive, collectible game figurines. While the game will start with the trio of LEGO Batman, LEGO Gandalf and Wyldstyle, Warner Bros Interactive has already planned at least seven funpacks to be spaced out through the remainder of 2015 and the first half of 2016, with more funpacks to be announced in the coming months.
Each funpack contains one or more characters and a matching vehicle for said character(s). However, the characters won't be restricted to their own rides, as they are interchangeable between characters and packs.Players can bring up to seven characters, vehicles and weapons into the LEGO Dimensions game all at once by placing them on the LEGO Toy Pad to create extreme gameplay cross-overs, such as LEGO Superman piloting the LEGO DeLorean Time Machine through Hill Valley or LEGO Doc Brown fighting alongside LEGO Bane in New Ninjago City.
The current lineup of funpacks, in no specific order of release, is as follows: Aquaman, Superman, Batman
's Bane villain, Doc Brown of Back to the Future
fame, Ninjago's Gold Ninja Lloyd, Ninjago's Sensei Wu, and last but certainly not least Batman
's Joker and Harley Quinn combo.
Speaking of Doc Brown, check out the "Great Scott" trailer for the upcoming game below, featuring Christopher Lloyd reprising his iconic role.
Lastly we have a set of pictures for this first series of seven funpacks.
