TA Top Five: E3 Predictions

By Jonathan Barnes, 1 year ago
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you know that E3 is nigh. As the Newshound team was sitting around the coffee table in our secret underground volcano tree house, we started to discuss our predictions for E3. Some of these predictions were so good that we felt we owed it to YOU, our community, to share them.

As always, these predictions are free of charge, free of blame, and will probably not happen... but might... I don't know... I just work volunteer here.

Honorable Mentions
You will die... again... and this time, it's personal
From Marc H.:

Prediction of my own: It's been circulating for a few days and all it takes is a quick Google search to see it right there in your face, and I'm really excited for its potential announcement. Dark Souls 3! Hidetaka Miyazaki, the franchise's creator, is said to return after having less of a role in Dark Souls II and last night some concept art and 2016 release window was leaked. Hoping for a reveal next week!Joe Montana In The House!
From Mark:

The thing that would blow the lid off this year's show for me would be the reveal of the oft-rumored Joe Montana Football. Whispers say a first party exclusive NFL licensed game is coming to Xbox One. The first party publishing would work to circumvent the EA exclusivity license which apparently only covers multiplats and football fans like me might finally have the Madden killer we've been dreaming of since 2006.Hopes, Dreams, and Long Shots
From Andrew:

I'm going for two Gears announcements - the remake and a new game. I'm also expecting Red Dead Redemption 2 as Rockstar has been quiet. Perhaps something on Elder Scrolls 6, too.

I'd like to see dates confirmed too: DOOM and Forza Motorsport 6 are the one's I'm most interested in.
Break Out Crowbar and Tinfoil Hat
From Ben:
I'll settle with a Half-Life 3 then, it's not like you're about to tell me that's never coming either right?

I just mad myself even more sad...
Say it ain't so, Shepard!
From Marc H.:
My worst fear (not that it would ever happen thankfully)

NEXT MASS EFFECT ANNOUNCED. Coming to PS4 only. If something like that happened I'd want to give up gaming.
Top Five
5 - Gears and More From Microsoft
Gears 1

From Michelle:

I predict a Gears remaster since they'll likely follow the Halo mold - Get the remaster out by this holiday to hype a new game for the following year. Also, nothing specific, but we're likely to hear a lot about Windows 10. One other prediction is that they will follow their recent trend and present this year's E3 as if the Kinect is not a thing and instead show us a bunch of sub-par ID@Xbox games because people would rather have crappy product with Gamerscore than amazing tech that can really revolutionize things if given the chance to be used appropriately.4 - Ubi Re-Dons the Goggles
Homeland 3

Also from Mark:

Ubisoft's reputation has taken a major hit over the last few years thanks to buggy launches (Assassin's Creed Unity), empty promises (Watch_Dogs), and repeated delays (The Division) but they deserve a lot of credit for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist, which released at the tail end of the 360 generation. In my opinion, it was the best Splinter Cell since 2005's Chaos Theory. We know the next Splinter Cell game is in development right now, but that's all we know. I'm guessing we'll see Sam's iconic goggles on stage during Ubi's show this Monday.3- Microsoft's Message
Halo 5 Teaser Art

From Dave:

Phil Spencer has said that they are going to try something new and concentrate on first party/exclusives. We'll get the inevitable Halo 5: Guardians gameplay, Forza 6, Scalebound, Fable and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Rare will have either a new IP, a reboot of an older franchise or possibly both. Remaster of the first Gears of War and a CG trailer or maybe some gameplay for Gears 4. More details on Windows 10 and Xbox One cross play, Direct X12 and some Holo Lens. A new IP from Twisted Pixel that is rumoured to be a AAA release. Joe Montana NFL. An ID@Xbox sizzle trailer. Some new IP that no one is expecting and will be interesting but we won't really know anything about. 2 - Bethesda's Bounty

From the jerk compiler of this piece:
Bethesda definitely shook up the gaming world by announcing that they would be having their own press conference for the first time ever (TONIGHT!). While they already shot their big gun by announcing Fallout 4 last week, they still have a catalog of expected announcements (more from DOOM, more info on the console edition of The Elder Scrolls Online, and something about BattleCry). My not-so-bold prediction is that we'll find out that Arkane Studios is working not just on a sequel to Dishonored (one of my big game crushes) but also some new version of Prey 2. I also think we'll hear about a Game of the Year edition of The Evil Within and a Wolfenstein bundle that includes both The New Order and The Old Blood.

Oh, and we'll get more details on Fallout 4, including a release date for November, information on special editions (two versions, one around $80 and one around $150), and details about a new co-op mode.
1 - Just. Give us. Fallout.

From Marc C.:

The Internet is still buzzing, understandably, about Fallout 4 finally being revealed last week. With that out of the way, I'm expecting Todd Howard to be out on the conference floor showing off a decent chunk of gameplay, just as he was for Fallout 3. There's been a lot of rumors and sightings saying that Fallout 4 will release this year, and I think Bethesda will take the opportunity to confirm that the game will release in Holiday 2015. That won't be it for Fallout, however, as we'll also get confirmation of the Fallout Collection coming to One and PS4 in either June or July, so that its release doesn't interfere with Fallout 4.Those are some of our hot E3 predictions. Let's hear some of yours!

The TA Team will be bringing you The TA Top Five every Sunday until we run out of coolness to debate and discuss. If you have an idea for a Top Five you'd like us to do, be sure to let us know in the comments!
