Shape Of The World Kickstarter Fully Funded

By Joseph C,
Up to now, this one has been flying under the radar, but Hollow Tree Games has fully funded their upcoming existential explorer, Shape of the World. Eschewing any sort of combat element prevalent in many modern games, Shape of the World is strictly focused on exploration.  As the lead developer, Stu Maxwell explains in the video, getting lost can be a wonderful feeling when you find yourself. That sense of getting lost is what this game aims to make you feel.

Procedural generation is all the rage lately, and Shape of the World uses the mechanic to craft the world around you as you progress through it.  The ground below, sky above, and everything in between will form around the player as they explore and get lost in the surreal environment.  Check out the official trailer for a better idea of how the world will form around you.

Last but not least, here are a few screenshots of some possible outcomes of the procedural generation system, to give you an idea of what you might come across when you get lost.

36-year old married gamer, father to a fierce Boston Terrier but no humanoid children. I've been gaming practically my whole life, starting around when I was 5 or 6 years old with an Atari 2600 and progressing through nearly every console ever released apart from the Wii U.

I'm a completionist by nature, but am trying to move away from chasing every-higher gamerscore and just focusing on enjoying the great games that are all around me. We'll see how successful I am.

I've been on TA since 2009 but have become much more active on the site in the past couple of years, and look forward to seeing it grow now that the XB1 app is getting it some much-deserved exposure!
