Constructor HD Announced For Consoles

System 3 has announced a re-imagining of a classic originally released in 1997, Constructor HD.   A precursor of sorts to games like The Sims, Constructor sold over 5 million copies worldwide, and even saw a PS One port.  This isn’t just a port of an 18-year-old game, however.  Constructor HD is completely rebuilt from the ground up to bring the look of the game into the modern era for veteran constructors and a new generation of gamers alike, while still retaining the core original gameplay mechanics.

Players take the role of development powerhouses aimed at beating their rivals to the punch in the creation of a city.  Not only must you contend with the building of the city itself, you must also both battle and utilize the Undesirables, groups of people that can be used by the players to slow down other players’ progress.

These Undesirables come in different varieties, to include gangs of thugs and hippy groups, organized crime, and even specialist ones such as Mr. Fix, who can interfere with opponents’ gas supplies.  Possibly the strangest of all, you can even deploy crazy clowns to terrorize your enemies.  Check out some of the early screenshots from the HD reimagining below.

You can get your build on when Constructor HD releases on multiple platforms January 29th, 2016.

36-year old married gamer, father to a fierce Boston Terrier but no humanoid children. I've been gaming practically my whole life, starting around when I was 5 or 6 years old with an Atari 2600 and progressing through nearly every console ever released apart from the Wii U. I'm a completionist by nature, but am trying to move away from chasing every-higher gamerscore and just focusing on enjoying the great games that are all around me. We'll see how successful I am. I've been on TA since 2009 but have become much more active on the site in the past couple of years, and look forward to seeing it grow now that the XB1 app is getting it some much-deserved exposure!
