For fans of the franchise, just having an HD remake of first Gears of War title was exciting enough but now the deal is getting all the sweeter.

Gears of War Ultimate Backwards Compatibility Announcement

Microsoft has now announced that those players who play the new Gears of War: Ultimate Edition title between August 25th and December 31st 2015 will unlock the entire GoW franchise in the backwards compatibility programme. This means that Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment will all be playable on the Xbox One.

All this Gears goodness comes on top of the Ultimate Edition's new maps, modes and missions, early access to the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta, new Achievements, improved haptic feedback and an additional difficulty level. Can it really get much better?

Along with backwards compatibility news, Microsoft has also released another clip in the series showing the behind scenes work on the title. Following on from the gameplay trailer, the latest clip focuses on the work that has gone into updating the weapons, vehicles and the fans favorite COG characters from the series.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be hitting the Xbox One and Windows 10 on August 25th. Thanks to all the community members who suggested the story.
