A handful of Battlefront
fans were disappointed when EA announced that Star Wars Battlefront
will not include space battles. And although that remains true, EA recentlty revealed the Fighter Squadron mode, a game mode that includes 20 players as well as AI controlled ships battling it out in aerial combat. The objective of this game mode is to take out as many enemy ships as possible while either protecting or attacking a transport shuttle.
Each side will have unique abilities to use in the dogfights, with the Rebel ships coming equipped with shields that can be activated whenever the tide turns against you, and the Imperial ships have the ability to travel from point A to point B very quickly to jump in and out of the fight as needed. You'll be able to pilot X-wings, A-wings, TIE fighters, and TIE Interceptors as seen in the following trailer and screenshots showing off some of the gameplay:
Star Wars Battlefront
will be available for the Xbox One on November 19th.
