Halo 5 Takes Us to the Rig

Gamescom certainly proved to be a huge platform for the Halo franchise. Of course, the reveal of Halo Wars 2 was the big news, but Halo 5: Guardians was also very present, bringing many new details, images, and videos of the upcoming entry in the franchise.

Earlier this week, 343 Industries’ Josh Holmes sat down with Xbox Daily to go over some new details about Halo 5. The video includes a flyover first-look at an Arena map called "The Rig". The map is asymmetrical, unlike the Coliseum map that was detailed last week, and makes a lot of use of the clamber ability. It is also from a location featured in the game's story, so gamers will soon wind up quite familiar with the layout. Also discussed are MP game types, including a brand new mode called "Breakout", a round-based mode in which players have one life per round. "Breakout" was in the beta this past holiday season, but the team has continued to tweak it since then, adding further objectives that can be completed to be victorious in a round, such as capturing and moving a flag. The video also touches on Halo eSports and the upcoming Halo World Championship.

Halo 5: Guardians will be released on October 27th.
