TA Gaming Stats - September 7th to 13th 2015

By Chewie, 1 year ago
This report is for the period September 7th to 13th 2015.
Welcome to the stats from here on TA for the second week of September, a week which saw fewer big budget releases than in the last couple of weeks though a couple of later releases do make early appearances.

The Big Numbers
57,084 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 81,590 games between them (2,050 different games).

6,400 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 8,558 games between them (1,194 different games).

133,208 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 1,367,230 achievements online between them (54,365 different achievements).

Xbox One
Two new releases lead on Xbox One, with Castle Crashers Remastered comfortably taking first place with almost 8,000 starters and two spots in the top half of Achievements Won. Those numbers will have been boosted thanks to the game being made available for free for those who owned the original over on XBLA. It also pulls in plenty of completions, with 300 allowing it to take first on Comleted. Following it as the second most started title is Forza Motorsport 6 with 5,300 starters and two spots at the top of Achievements Won. Those numbers may seem lowish but remember that the game itself was actually released in the following week, with some territories not getting it until the 18th. I expect the numbers next week will be higher. Another game that turns up early is NHL 16 in ninth thanks to an early release on EA Access. Unfortunately, Aritana & the Harpy's Feather, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, ClusterPuck 99 and Draw a Stickman: Epic all fail to make the tables.

The previous week's big release, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, remains one of the most played games in third on Started and dominates the bottom half of Achievements Won whilst Mad Max sees a bigger drop from third to fifth. The previous week's easy new release Super Toy Cars climbs up from ninth to second on completed as more people finish it off. Similarly, Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart also manages to make the table at the bottom with 90 completions.

Xbox 360
There isn't much in the way of change on the 360 as Games with Gold and Rare Replay continue to dominate the ever dwindling numbers. One notable anomaly is Valorous in Destiny (Xbox 360), which appears in second on Achievements Won thanks to the requirements for the achievement changing along with the release of the "Taken King" DLC due to the original requirements become void.

The day of freeness in the previous week keeps Goat Simulator (Xbox 360) on top of all the tables while Rare Replay controls the rest. I wonder if there'll come a day when these tables are no longer dominated by the game. It'll probably take a big XBLA sale blow out, which hasn't happened in a while, and even then it'll be a temporary change.

This week saw a new Windows release in Doodle God Blitz (Win 8), which had been released the previous week on Windows Phone. It manages to be the second most started game and grab a single spot towards the bottom of Achievements Won. It's kept from Completed by a couple of glitched achievements. Speaking of which, an update for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta made all achievements finally obtainable, putting the game straight into number two on Completed with nearly 40 completions.

A drop in Twins (WP) starters from 580 to 300 sees it drop into second behind Doodle God Blitz (WP). The real story is the new "DLC: Title Update" for What in the World? (WP). That's right, DLC achievements for a Windows Phone game. 'Tis madness. It puts the game, which had really begun to slide off the radar, straight back to the top of Completed with nearly 350 completions and a clean sweep on Achievements Won.

After closing the gap in previous weeks, Shooter is dethroned by Action-Adventure this week. Castle Crashes also gives Action a boost in numbers from 6 to nearly 9 million but it's not enough to push it up from third place. Meanwhile, Forza pushes Racing up from eighth to fifth

Next week sees a heap more new releases, including Plague Inc: Evolved, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 and Forza Motorsport 6 (proper), trying to fight for supremacy. It's also the week of DLC as "The Taken King" releases along with "Grand Theft Auto Online Freemode Events" and "Imperial City" for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Oh, and it also gets a little chilly around here.
