Darksiders 2 Details

During the International Game Developers Association conference in San Francisco last week, THQ VP of Core Games Danny Bilson provided new details surrounding Darksiders 2, the sequel to THQ's surprise hit, Darksiders.

It's a different character and takes place simultaneously to the first game's story, because there's only one apocalypse, and has new mechanics and features that differentiate it a lot and grow it from the first game. You have to build on the first one; you can't repeat it and I think that's very important in franchise building.
Bilson also went on to mention that the expectations for Darksiders 2 is that the game will be 25% longer than the original Darksiders.

When we come out with a better, more exciting game we've got those people to market it for us, buy it themselves the second time around, and I believe we can grow the audience that way.
THQ's expectations for Darksiders 2 are to grow on the consumer base that made Darksiders such a hit. Darksiders sold roughly 1.3 million copies and THQ expects to grow that market with Darksiders 2. Darksiders 2 is scheduled to ship early 2012. For now, the demons get to keep their blood.
