TA@EGX - Jump Stars Revealed for Xbox One

By Rebecca Smith, 1 year ago
At EGX, Microsoft brought several ID@Xbox titles for attendees to try out. One of those was the previously unannounced Jump Stars. Players assume the roles of up to four cube shaped contestants that are taking part in a dangerous game show. Led by a deranged gameshow host and filmed in a derelict television studio, what could possibly go wrong?

Three game modes were available for players to try, all three of which can be briefly witnessed in the trailer below. The first saw players trying to evade crusher traps and can be seen for the first time at 0:27 in the trailer. The longer that you survive, the more points that you get. However, you could also try and push your friends under the traps too if you're feeling rather mean. The second mode tasked players with climbing from platform to platform while trying not to fall off the bottom of the screen (seen at 0:17). Finally, the third mode (seen at 0:13) saw one player hampered by a stick of dynamite with a burning fuse. Players must get close enough to their friends to pass it on before the fuse burns completely. You don't want to be the person holding the dynamite when the countdown reaches zero.

As you may have also seen in the trailer, there is a variety of costume options for the numerous contestants. Despite the run-down nature of the studio, all of the stages are also dressed to impress and take inspiration from films like Star Trip and Lord of the Bangles.
