Fragments of Him Gets a Launch Trailer

We've spoken recently about a seeming lack of games that delve into personal dramas rather than grand, apocalyptic events. Perhaps Fragments of Him will fill that thematic gap, when it releases via ID@Xbox at some point this year.

The game, developed in the Netherlands, first made some waves back in July last year when we first reported on it. The prototype reduced several gamers (and allegedly some hardened gaming journalists) to tears. Not bad for something put together in 72 hours for a Game Jam.

The story details are still fairly thin on the ground - what we do know is that the narrative-led experience will take approximately 2.5 hours and will centre around the events leading up to and following the death of Will, the central protagonist. We will see the emotional aftermath through the eyes and memories of Will's grandmother, boyfriend, and ex-girlfriend - an interesting character dynamic in itself, even without a gut-wrenching tragedy in the middle of it.

The ghostly sepia tone from the original cinematic trailer seems to be carrying through to the gameplay, if these new screenshots are anything to go by.

To celebrate the imminent release of the game on PC, developers SassyBot have released a haunting launch trailer.

There is no firm release date as yet for the Xbox One, though it is still expected soon after the PC launch on May 3rd.
