Minecraft Console Editions Get Minigames from June

Mojang clearly have no plans to stop updating Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, or the 360 version, any time soon. Today they have announced that we're going to start seeing Mojang-created multiplayer mini-games.

The first, arriving for free in June, will be "Battle".

Battle allows you to set up a competitive multiplayer fight for survival, where speed, strategy- and sometimes just pure luck- will make you the winner. Players in Battle matches use randomly generated resources found in chests placed in specially designed PVP maps and combat one another in a free for all death match until the final victor is determined.
When you die, you get to fly around the arena as a bat and watch everyone continue to flap their sword hands at each other. Fans of old-school multiplayer mayhem will be pleased to know that you can enjoy these new maps in 4-player split-screen, while you can battle with up to eight players via Xbox Live. The new mode will have an in-game matchmaking system so you can invite or join other gamers out in the community.

"Battle" will roll out in June as a free update to everyone who owns Minecraft, with three maps to try out. Further map packs will be available later, priced at $2.99 USD or your local equivalent.

Mojang are keen for feedback and mini-game ideas. You can let them know your thoughts at their revamped forums.
