While some companies have recently bowed out
of the toys-to-life genre, Activision is moving ahead full force. Today they proved this by announcing the next step in the Skylanders series
, Skylanders Imaginators
With the current trend of customization holding high importance in the gaming marketplace, Activision will allow Portal Masters to create their own Skylanders
for the first time in the series' history.
The publisher boasted the numerous options of the customization engine. Players will be able to select "appearance, powers, abilities, name, catchphrase, musical theme and much more" to make their crazy creations a reality. Custom Skylanders
are created by placing the new Creation Crystal on the portal.
Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc., said:
Since we launched the very first Skylanders game, we have received countless letters and drawings from kids all over the world sharing their vision for their own Skylanders. No matter how in touch with our 'inner kids' we might think we are as adults, nothing comes close to the endless creativity that springs from the mind of an inspired kid. We've turned this year's game into the ultimate blank canvas for kids' imaginations so they can create and play their own Skylanders.
Kids have sent developer Toys for Bob pictures like this one:Imaginators
will introduce more new features such as Skylander
senseis, who are part of 10 different classes like Knight or Bowslinger. Senseis have unique weapons, allow access to special areas in the world and have individual Secret Techniques. Senseis can also activate Sky-Chi to use their "ultimate Battle Class super move." There are 31 senseis total, some of which are "fan-favorite villains who have been reformed and now fight for good."
Once again older consoles are not being ignored — Imaginators
will release fully on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Like previous titles, all previous figurines will be playable in the game in addition to the new generation of figurines. There are currently over 300 Skylanders
Starter Packs will be up for preorder shortly for $74.99 USD (if they're not already at your local retailer) and include the following: • 1 Video Game

Dark Edition Starter Packs will also return, according to the Skylanders website
, and are currently listed at $99.99 USD.
