For Honor Cinematic Trailer and Gameplay From E3

By Kevin Tavore,
In For Honor, Ubisoft is delivering an epic melee combat game. The game takes place in an alternate universe where somehow the Vikings, Samurais, and Knights somehow engage in all out warfare for over 1000 years. How this is set up isn't the focal point of the game - the game is about the combat and engaging in battle. Today's trailers showcase that spectacularly.

First is the cinematic trailer, where you can see all three factions in combat with each other.

Then there's the gameplay trailer. Where we get to see a Viking army invading a town. Watch as our hero, the playable character, moves through enemy lines. We can see the combat where you need to select the direction you'll block from before unleashing devastating attacks with a great axe. The battle is vast and there's no loading, as you can see later on when the character overlooks the entire battlefield from a height. The visuals are truly impressive if Ubisoft can actually get them onto consoles.

By the way, in case you did watch the E3 conference, this video is a bit different. It's got extensive developer commentary overlaying the gameplay.

For Honor also now has a release date. It's coming on Valentine's Day. That's February 14, 2017.
