Criterion's Unnamed Extreme Sports IP Canceled

Gamers with good memories may remember an unnamed extreme sports title developer Criterion Games, veterans of the Burnout series, showed prototype footage of at E3 2014. They may also remember that's pretty much the last we ever heard of it.

EA has officially announced the unnamed title has been canceled, with Criterion spending their time on Star Wars titles instead. They've already been put to work on Star Wars Battlefront and are working on the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront VR game for PlayStation 4. Remember, EA did say they intend to release at least one Star Wars game per year for the next several years, so they have heavily shifted their focus in the direction of the storied franchise.

Fans interested in these types of games will have to instead turn their interest toward upcoming titles like Mark McMorris Infinite Air and Steep.

EA assured players that, though this might be it for Criterion's rendezvous into the extreme sports genre, the team members "are continuing to build new ideas and experiment with new IP for EA."
