Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition Announced

The hit fighter Killer Instinct is a little daunting to say the least — the title as a whole boasts almost 400 achievements, dozens of DLC packs and all sorts of editions from "Supreme" to "Ultra." Now there will be one to rule them all: Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition.

Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition contains all the content released for KI thus far, including the special edition Shadow Jago, who was previously only available during limited offers before being made available permanently in April.

No one would blame a gamer for not knowing what exactly "all" the Killer Instinct content is due to the sheer amount of it, so Microsoft has provided a handy list. Buyers can see exactly what they're getting below:

  • Every Killer Instinct fighter! That’s 26 characters, including the remastered cast, original fighters like Hisako and ARIA, and special guest characters like Arbiter from Halo, Rash from Battletoads and General RAAM from Gears of War
  • All 20 stages, with visual upgrades and lighting changes (creating absolutely improved gorgeous fighting sets)
  • Killer Instinct Classic 1 & 2 for Xbox One – the faithful recreation of the arcade originals
  • Special features like every song in the KI archives, every character trailer, and never-before-seen concept artwork
  • An interactive universe map with stage location details
  • Exclusive behind-the-scenes videos digging into the history, world, and design of this beloved franchise

The compilation will be getting both a physical and digital release. Players who purchase at retail will get a couple added bonuses: a soundtrack CD and an exclusive golden skin for Gargos. Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition will be available on September 20th for $39.99 US on Xbox One.
