Microsoft has today announced that the slimmer, sleeker and whiter Xbox One S console that opened their E3 show this year will be available on August 2nd in select regions*.

Xbox One S

The initial release date will only include the 2TB launch edition of the console, with smaller hard drive versions (500GB and 1TB) coming at a later date which will be "shared soon." If you'd like to secure your console for release date, pre-orders are still being accepted through the Microsoft store and other retailers, but “availability is limited and demand is high.”

If you need a refresher on what the Xbox One S console offers, here's the full list:

  • 40 percent smaller than Xbox One
  • Built-in power supply (farewell, gigantic hideous brick)
  • More front-USBs and IR blaster
  • 4K video and HDR support
  • New controller design (one’s bundled in the box)
A new video has also been released to coincide with today's announcement:

* Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and United States.

Will you be picking up the new console, or are you happy with your current version?
