Achievement Flags 3.0

Since they were first added, achievement flags have been a huge part of the site and are an absolutely awesome resource for achievement hunting! At a glance, they provide some great key information about achievements without the need to delve into their solutions.

With achievements constantly evolving, our flags have evolved too, although with just small changes here and there we've ended up with a system that is, to put it bluntly, pretty difficult to use...

As such we're back with "Achievement Flags 3.0"! This is the next update to the system and aims to revert some of the previous changes and jump us back toward the "glance at" feel that the achievement flags should provide.

Firstly, in the last big update, over two years ago, the concept of the synergies was introduced. The idea was that a number of component flags could be used in combination to convey an entirely different meaning. While great in theory, they never really worked that well in practice and, as such, we've decided to remove them entirely.

Secondly, we've lowered the overall number of flags on the site by removing a couple of the more obscure ones. We've also logically combined some others into single flags. For example:
  • The Time Sensitive & Date Sensitive flags have been combined into a single Time/Date Sensitive flag. While this does broaden the meaning we've also added the ability for dates to be directly attached to achievements, meaning there's minimal loss of existing data.
  • The Versus - and Cooperative - flags have also been dropped in favour of a "Host Only" flag, which indicates that only the primary player will earn the achievement. Note, only the minus variants of the latter have been removed.
Thirdly, we've overhauled the Players Required flag. Rather than having distinct 3+, 6+, and 9+ Players Required flags, we've swapped the checkboxes (on the submission pages) for a neat dropdown. Here you can select the exact number of players required for an achievement instead and we can assign that directly to the achievement.

Finally, we felt that with the above changes it was also a good time to tidy up a couple of the existing definitions - hopefully making them a bit easier for everyone to understand.
