Although it doesn't open to the public for another couple of days, the news is streaming out of Gamescom already. One of the games that you will see if you are attending the show is Raiders of the Broken Planet
, which can be played for the first time ever at Microsoft's booth.
As well as that announcement, developer MercurySteam has released a new trailer for the title. Focusing on some of the game's "interesting and downright fun" rogues and villains, the trailer showcases the game's shooting and brawling mechanics. Players have to brawl with their opponents to be able to replenish their supplies and boost their abilities. The game's senior producer, Dave Cox, gave us more details.
The trailer is a fun glimpse into the world of Raiders and some of the characters you can play with there. Lycus Dion is a cocky hands on type of character who isn’t afraid to get up close and personal but this often land him in trouble. Big guy Konstantin is a burly Russian who is always on hand to save Lycus when he goes too far. Alicia on the other hand is a crazy aussie who ends up saving the both of them and the mysterious antagonist at the end is a just a hint at the key feature the game has to offer in multiplayer mode – 4 vs 1 antagonist.
When the game is released later this year, players will be able to fight solo against the Invaders, or they can choose to team up with other Raiders. Alternatively, you can turn against your companions and fight alongside the Invaders. The choice is yours, as they say.
