Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced several pieces of information today about the latest installment in their Mortal Kombat franchise.
Two Special Editions of the game will be made available at launch. The first SE, the "Kollector's Edition", includes figurines of long-time Mortal Kombat fighters Sub-Zero and Scorpion, an artbook, and DLC for "Klassic" costume skins and avatar costumes. The second SE, the "Tournament Edition", of which only 20,000 copies will be made available, will include the above mentioned DLC as well as a portable fight stick.
As is increasingly becoming the case, retailer specific pre-order bonuses were also revealed. Those of you choosing to pre-order from GameStop will net a classic Scorpion skin as well as his original fatality. If Sub-Zero was your kombatant of choice and you want his skin and fatality, then make sure to place your pre-order at Best Buy. Finally, if you're a fan of Reptile, pre-order through Amazon to get his skin/fatality as your pre-order bonus.
Mortal Kombat, the first title to be developed by NetherRealm Studios, promises a return to the series "mature presentation and a reinvention of its classic 2-D fighting mechanic" and will launch in April 2011
