Almost a year after release, 2015's Halo 5: Guardians continues to receive free maps, updates and improvements. 343 Industries has detailed their plans for September's update, entitled "Anvil's Legacy." Launching on the same date will be the Windows 10 edition of Forge mode, which was announced in May, allowing creators to both create and test out maps on their Windows 10 PCs.
One of the biggest improvements of "Anvil's Legacy" is targeted at Forge creators and players, designed to complement the Windows 10 release. It's a new Forge Content Browser.
The Halo 5: Guardians Forge Content Browser not only supports custom maps and game modes, but also the ability to share and discover brand new Forge Object Groups – a new feature designed to streamline the creative process by letting players save pre-fabricated object groups such as buildings, bases, and much more. With the new Forge Content Browser for Halo 5: Forge and Halo 5: Guardians, build and share your creations across both Windows 10 and Xbox One platforms for an all-access pass to a nearly infinite array of awesome new experiences.
There will also be two new maps: Mercy and Temple. Mercy is an Arena map "that combines contested corridors with a mix of open sightlines." Temple, a new Warzone map, is a "brand new large-scale battleground built from the ground up with Warzone Assault in mind."
Last but not least, a Halo 5 update wouldn't be much of a Halo 5 update without new REQ goodies. There will be three new weapons (which were not revealed), new Sound Dampener attachments, weapons and armor skins and more. 343 has hinted that "some fan favorite armors get a new coat of paint, and a new Magnum loadout lets Spartans pack a new powerful punch in a nice convenient package."
A sneak peek at one of the new maps
Before you ask, we haven't heard a peep on achievements. The only Halo 5 updates to receive achievements so far are the Score Attack and Warzone Firefight updates, which were released on the same day.
"Anvil's Legacy" and Forge – Halo 5: Guardians Edition for Windows 10 will be available on September 8th.
