Rocksmith 2014 Gets Remastered This October

By Kelly Packard,
"Remastered" is a word that's tossed around a lot in today's gaming industry. Ubisoft is putting out a remastered edition of Rocksmith 2014 Edition in October, but isn't using "remastered" in the way the term is usually applied. In truth, it's more comparable to a Game of the Year Edition or Special Edition, though the game is getting some upgrades.

Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered will include new bonus features like "a customizable learning curve, stat tracking, more practice tools, retooled menus, and more." This new edition, which will be getting a retail release, will also include six bonus songs:

Rocksmith

  • Bob Marley & The Wailers “Three Little Birds”
  • Elvis Presley “Suspicious Minds”
  • FUN. “Some Nights”
  • Jackson 5 “I Want You Back”
  • Outkast “Hey Ya!”
  • Train “Drops of Jupiter”
The good news is that all of the new features (not including the songs) will be available as a free update for existing Rocksmith 2014 Edition owners. Though Ubisoft hasn't stated anything definite, keep in mind Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered is only releasing on current-gen systems, making it possible the free update will be limited to those systems, too.

As achievement hunters, some of you are probably wondering if Remastered is going to end up with a separate achievement list, similar to recent titles like Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Game of the Year Edition. Unfortunately, we don't know the answer to that question yet.

Rocksmith 2014 Remastered Edition, as well as the free update for existing owners, will be available on October 4th. Remastered includes the game and the cable with which to hook up your real guitar or bass, at a going price of US$59.99. The six bonus songs will be available for separate purchase on the same date.
