Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today Announced

I love a good point-and-click adventure, so when I saw the likes of Monkey Island and Broken Sword among the inspirations for Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today, my interest was piqued.

There will be no light-hearted adventuring here, though, as this game's thematic forebears include 90s horror titles I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream and Sanitarium. Developed by Fictiorama Studios, Dead Synchronicity is set in a dystopian future following two cataclysmic events. First was a "chain of natural disasters", followed by a pandemic that turns people into Dissolved. These Dissolved get cognitive powers, until their bodies start dissolving into blood some time later.

You'll play as Michael, who must recover his own memories as well as solve the mystery behind these two events before the next one, the "dead synchronicity" of the title, in which time itself will dissolve.

The game's soundtrack was created by indie band Kovalski, who are inspired by orchestral rock of the 1970s and soundtracks from the Italian Giallo horror genre. Add on top of this the German Expressionism influence in the game's art style and you can expect things to get pretty freaky. Producer Luis Oliván warns gamers:

They better be prepared for an intense, unnerving experience that explores primal fears, lawlessness, and the depths of human nature.
If that's not enough of a warning, check out this mind-melting trailer for the PlayStation 4 release:

Although arriving today on PlayStation 4, sadly this is not the case for Xbox gamers, meaning that I can't make a timely pun from the game's title. Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today is still due to arrive in digital format on Xbox One, but there is no release date as of yet.
