Crazy Machines Elements Coming To XBLA

Amateur inventor game to debut on XBLA later this year

Written by Matrarch on 01 February 11 at 22:40

Crazy Machine Elements, a physics-driven puzzler, will arrive on the XBLA later this year according to publisher dtp entertainment.

In Crazy Machines Elements, gamers are tasked with completing 100 partially built "chain reaction machines" using specified parts and, as the title implies, the elements; fire, water, air and earth. Several different solutions will be available for each puzzle and you will be able to unlock various challenges by solving puzzles in specific ways, such as completing the puzzle while using the fewest pieces possible. Crazy Machines Elements will also include a level editor so you can build your own Rube Goldberg-esque contraptions.

Check out these screens released today:

The first two Crazy Machines games are available on Steam. Why they decided to name this one as if it's a spin off rather than a numbered squeal is unclear. Perhaps they were worried that most people on xbox live will have never played the first two games. Or, perhaps this will be simpler than the first two games. Who knows.

Another +1 for this! I loved The Incredible Machine back in the day, and that similarity is enough to get me to care about this game! Definitely be keeping my eye out for this game smile

I swear there was supposed to be a Incredible Machine on XBLA... vaguely remember reading about it a few years ago...

I read about The Incredible Machine on XBLA as well, but it might've been a rehash, in which case this may be it, it looks very similar.

If it's got the puzzle modes, I'm totally sold!

You remember right. The game was essentially canceled when Activision swallowed up Sierra. Too bad, I was looking forward to it for the longest time. cry

I'm sad to hear this! I loved the Incredible Machine games for the PC, and I can't tell you how much time I spent playing the Incredible Toon Machine. With how much I loved the rest of the Sierra Live Arcade releases, a new Incredible Machine could have been stellar. I hope this new title, being built on a similar premise, lives up to its spiritual predecessor. If so, I'll be picking this up for sure.

My exact thought when i saw the screen shots.

I do like a good puzzle game and this could be interesting. Will wait for some gameplay footage.
