Test Drive Unlimited 2 Patch Arriving Soon

Numerous issues are being dealt with

Written by PunkyLiar on 19 February 11 at 00:25

Namco Bandai UK marketing head Lee Kirton has confirmed via Twitter that a patch for Test Drive Unlimited 2 should arrive in approximately two weeks time. The patch is currently undergoing extensive QA testing, but will be submitted to Microsoft at the start of next week. Here are the issues that the patch is hoping to fix:

• Improve login process to allow a higher volume of successful connections
• Increase online stability across all multiplayer functionality
• Address issues related to file corruption
• Enable Club and MyTDULife functionality
• Enable Co-Op races
• Enable weather while offline
• Address an issue where players can get a Lancia which has no car data (the patch should prevent this from occurring in the future, and restore players who are currently affected by the issue)
Atari are aware that many players are suffering problems with this game. They have said that you may experience issues with these features until the next patch goes live:

• Signing in to online mode
• Seeing other players in the world and on the map
• Seeing your Friends lists and sending/receiving friend requests
• Claiming your pre-order cars and accessing the Casino
• Entering multiplayer races and joining friends' sessions
• In-game communications
Once these issues have been resolved, Atari will then look into reports that players cannot control their accessories or their Avatar if they are using a racing wheel. However, this issue will not be fixed until after this patch has been implemented.

Here is the current service status for the main features:

Online Play – Online, being monitored closely
DLC Purchasing – Online
Pre-Order Code Redemption - Online
Pre-Order Casino Code Redemption -Online
Getting pre-order cars and Casino in-game - Some users are reporting that their cars don't show up in the Used Car Dealer after the code is redeemed. If this affects you, try playing the game in Offline Mode to see if the cars show up.
Getting pre-order cars and Casino in-game - There is a bug where pre-order cars don't show up in the Used Car dealer if you are online. However, you can play Offline, purchase the car, then sign back on and you'll still have it.
MyTDU2Life - Offline - This is working as designed. TDU2MyLife is dependent on the Club Server.
Clubs - Offline - Scheduled to go live when the next patch is released.
We will keep you updated when more details become available.

just picked this up today. I guess I won't be playing until after the first patch is released. I really do not want to put 20 hours in then have my save game corrupted.

I was looking forward to this game, but it is an epic fail. I returned my preorder for full refund. I will not be getting another copy. No excuses.

Just wondering why some games are so badly affected by game save corruption while others aren't? I have only ever played two games that have corrupted on me but both have done so numerous times. People say that game save corruption affects all games but I don't believe this, if anyone could give me some solid info either way, it would be really helpful.

It would seem petty but when you play a lot of games, 50 hours is some fucking dedication. It's a complete joke that they A.) released a broken game and B.) that it's going to take them 2 (+ the week already passed) weeks to sort it out.

Utter joke.

People just don't have the patience to wait for the update, people think too much of developers, it really isn't as easy as people think to make a game like this or any game at all.
Coming from a BTEC level 3 ICT student, the developers are doing a brilliant job and I think people should have a bit more respect than they've been giving.

I've been following all the patches and updates since release day and they have been working so hard to get things done, and things are looking up If you actually take the time to look at the game and how they have addressed and worked on the bugs and issues.
So it might have been a mess on release day, hell even I cursed them for that, but the game is amazing and just have to give them time.

Understandably everybody here is pissed. Clearly the shit didn't go through QA originally....... hard to believe a team of professionals could miss so many issues. Seems these days that many games are released in the state of a stonking mess heap (Fallout: New Vegas, Mercernaries 2 etc) and because they know they can release a title update they release a sub-par product with the intention to update it later on. Feel sorry for all the gamers out there who play offline and have no means of updating their games to be more polished.

If you're a dev/publisher and you spend so much on textures, character modelling, staffing, R&D etc then making sure the game goes through proper QA and receives some polish should be viewed as an investment rather than an additional production cost. After all, pissing off the consumer lowers the market value of a game and the potential to sell future DLC. This trend of "we'll update it later" is pretty damn irritating.

M$ needs more stringent QA guidelines... but then again I guess that makes milking the cash cows less efficient.

EDIT: Doesn't look like this game is that great, it only got a 7.0 rating on gamespot.com

ICobryza said:Doesn't look like this game is that great, it only got a 7.0 rating on gamespot.comIn my opinion the core game itself is great. It's such a shame it's let down by the shattered online. The only rating I use is if I like it or not when I play a game. It's all down to personal opinion at the end of the day.

Still more time to play Deathsmiles and Mar' Capcom III but 2 weeks (plus one week already) is a joke. Seems I paid 40quid for a 3/4 finished game and am doing the QA for them.Still of it all gets fixed all's good(ish) laugh

Loved the root gameplay of the game but it was a joke to release this game in alpha stage. I was a forgiving customer until the casino magically made my 600,000 chips instantly disappear on a can't connect to server message.

I think I am going to hold off buying this until all these glitches are patched. Still want to play it though.
