Demiurge Launches Shoot Many Robots Competition

Demiurge Launches Shoot Many Robots Competition

Unfortunately limited to US only

Written by punkyliar on 05 March 11 at 14:28

We revealed Demiurge's upcoming 2D side-scrolling action-RPG Shoot Many Robots back in February; the main aim of the game being to shoot many robots (of course). The developer has now given players the chance to not only design their own robot, but to have their design implemented into the game to be blown into smithereens. Unfortunately due to legal restrictions, the competition is limited to US submissions only.

Players will have to upload a design of their robot and include a brief description of its personality, attack style, and behaviour. There is not a limit to the number of submissions that one person can make. Your entries have to be posted on the Submit Your Robots forum on Demiurge's official website. Uploaded files can not be larger than 20 MB, and the deadline for submissions is at 11:59 PM EST on April 4th 2011.

To act as inspiration, Demiurge has also posted some examples of concept art for robots that will be appearing in the game:

5/3/11 Robot idea 1

5/3/11 Robot idea 2

5/3/11 Robot idea 3

5/3/11 Robot idea 4

Once the deadline for entries has passed, Demiurge will select five finalists to be put to public vote between April 26th and May 12th. The winner will see their design implemented into the first piece of DLC for the game and will receive a Demiurge T-Shirt. Not only that, the winner will get a free trip to Demiurge Studios in Cambridge, MA, where they will be able to watch their robot being implemented into the game. The winner will be notified on (or around) May 23rd.

Shoot Many Robots will be coming to XBLA in 2011. A price is yet to be confirmed.

I've never heard of this game until now, but it looks pretty sweet. I'll have to keep an eye on it now.

Hadn't seen anything on this before. But if I can design and kill my own robots...why not? :P

I'm looking forward to this game for sure. I think it's awesome to have this competition even though Canucks like myself are excluded heh. I would love to see something I design be in a game.

I was going to say poor us, over here in England, neglected as ever. But could I actually be bothered designing anything like that? I don't think so... sleep

That's pretty cool. I'm an artist, myself. I've no intention of entering, though. I'd clearly win if I entered, and I want other artists to have a chance at winning.

There should be a competition for animation, because I'd clearly win laugh
