Operation Flashpoint: Red River Narrative Trailer

Operation Flashpoint: Red River Narrative Trailer

Shifting Focus

Written by punkyliar on 09 March 11 at 21:46

The campaign in Operation Flashpoint: Red River just became more dangerous. In Tajikistan, the insurgents are only part of the problem; the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China also wants a piece of the pie, and seeks to stake their claim as "the pre-eminent military authority in the region."

The third narrative trailer, 'Shifting Focus', uses in-game footage to demonstrate how the conflict changes when fighting the PLA. They have vehicles, air support and "state of the art weapons", but more important than that, they have more men and are more organised than the insurgents could ever have hoped to be.

"They must reassess, they had better adapt, or they will not survive... this is not the war they wanted, but this is the war they must fight!"

In case you missed them before, have a look at the previous two narrative trailers. First was 'The Stage Is Set', followed by the second, 'Entry Into Tajikistan'.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River is due to be released on April 21st, 2011 in Europe and Australia, and on April 26th in North America.

CoD player who can't process anything that's not "Run and Gun"

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, while not perfect, was a very good game for people who like to take their time and think their actions through.
Best co-op multiplayer experience I've had in a long long time.

Can't wait for this.

Nahhh mate Gears of war and RPG player here, I don't like COD that much, I play it for the easy achievements that is all. Operation flashpoint was poor, the AI was awful as was the game play even the button choices were bad, why can't they learn from COD or Battlefield bad Company 2, they are the most played shooters so base the controls around them games or just copy the controls, I like the idea of using tactics and taking time to think through different tactics but the AI always let you down they could never do anything right. Also love the way to insult cod by saying everyone that plays it only run and gun, most people camp in buildings with claymores, and it's the most successful game ever made unlike Operation Flashpoint, so you really can't dis CoD, the campaign and gameplay is amazing however the online mode has some weaknesses it's still the best game.

no pvp only coop no vehicles other than hummer no planes like the first no hellis and less available commands :( it is turning into call of duty and you most likely have a shorter tether than the last game. not goin to buy this one horribly disapointed with the interview i saw with one of the developers

I liked the campaign in Dragon Rising, but was pissed that Codemasters never followed through with more content. Sure, the sales were disappointing, but if they were planning a sequel, then they should've supported the first game to demonstrate that the sequel won't simply get a rough push out the door.

I'll wait for reviews, and if they're consistently upbeat, and if it looks like there's a ton of on-disk content, so that we're not in suspense waiting to see if Codemasters is in the black, then I'll pick it up.

Still not enough solid gameplay footage! All the Flashpoint trailers show tidbits of the gameplay. Nowhere near enough to be able to depict the style of the gameplay. It worries me, as this is what made Dragon Rising look so good, yet it resulted as a flop! I have faith that Codemasters can right their wrongs and make all the neccessary adjustments to make Red River much better though. Lets hope so.
