| These "we're going to hold the video hostage until enough of you like us" campaigns are weird, but I guess I will give into the pressure if I can be another brick in the wall towards this end. :) |

| this is a pretty good way of marketing, but the 17th is not that long away to wait so I am not sure if they will reach there goal. |

| Very clever advertising campaign, let's be honest - they need to do everything they can if they want to take the crown from Call of Duty. Great way to spread the word early! Liked! |

Ha...they're not holding it hostage. This is just good simple marketing by game developers. This is beyond the publishers pushing stuff on us. They will release the trailer at some point anyway. They want you to BUY this game.
I will buy this game!
edit: BC2 also had > 6M unique users log on online, so they have the user base to hit 1M. Its just getting the word out. |

| Sorry, but requiring us to sign up or use a service to unlock a 3rd party item, paid for or not, is just not acceptable to me, I will buy and love this game, but sorry, no FB. |

There is a "like" button under this news post. If I click that will it count?
This is a serious question |

tsunamishadow - no it doesn't count as it likes the link.On your facebook it will say "likes the link"....battlefield 3 trailer"....
you have to go to the page listed above,"Battlefield Page"
I've liked it despite never having played a battlefield game... should I think about playing this one? What is it like in terms of Call of Duty -obviously the older battlefield games I'm talking about...

| DUMB! Just show the video, you didn't make it to not show it. This new method of hyping up games is retarded and I won't take part in it! |

I'm not sure what the idea behind getting likes on facebook does anything for the developer. Just don't see how it does anything but boost the ego really, it doesn't necessarily mean more people will buy the game or not at all. |

| How about unlocking the full beta early? And Smurf you are 100% right. Clicking a like button does not mean anything basically so they can say so many people did just like back in the day "Psh I have like 2k friends on myspace aren't I cool?" |

Clicking a like button does not mean anything basically so they can say so many people did just like back in the day "Psh I have like 2k friends on myspace aren't I cool?"It's not just about getting a lot of likes. When you "like" something on FB, you follow the feeds for it. So therefore if you like it, you'll be recieving ads and posts on your wall about Battlefield 3. So it's a way for DICE to get you to sign up for ads promoting themselves. |
