Mortal Kombat King Of The Hill Trailer

By Keith Gray,
In an IGN exclusive, three members of the NetherRealm Studios development team have been cornered to discuss the new "King Of The Hill" online mode in Mortal Kombat, the forthcoming addition to the classic fighting franchise.

The new "King Of The Hill" mode looks to take inspiration from arcade-style Mortal Kombat titles of yester-year (namely Mortal Kombat 1 through to Mortal Kombat 3). Enough talking, let's see some action...

Assuming you were watching carefully, you've probably noticed that the latest title will also introduce an all-new "Spectator Mode" during online fights. This new feature will allow up to 8 gamers (or their avatars, to be more exact) to watch as other players battle for supremacy! Your avatar won't just stand and watch, they'll be able to react to the fight by booing, laughing and cheering (to name just a few available responses). The players actually participating in the fight will be encouraged to maintain variety in their fighting style, as the spectators will award a "respect score" when each fight ends, based on the action on show.

Mortal Kombat is scheduled for release on April 19th in North America and Canada (basically the same as midnight on 'Mortal Monday'!) European gamers will be able to get to grips with the title on April 21st. The details of the Kollector's Edition can be found here.
