Be a Kinect Sports World Record Hero on April 23rd

Those of you who have always wanted to take part in a Guinness World Record attempt will get your opportunity this weekend. Xbox LIVE is aiming for a world record for the "largest online 100m sprint" in Kinect Sports. The event is taking place this Saturday, April 23rd, at 10AM PDT, so that converts to 1PM EDT, 6PM GMT and 7PM CET. The world record attempt is part of the upcoming Xbox Nations weekend, a weekend where every player connected to Xbox LIVE gets to take advantage of the exclusive Xbox LIVE features usually reserved for Gold members.

Players who wish to participate first have to download the Guinness World Record gamerpic from the marketplace before the official start time. The picture is already available for download from here.

Before the race starts, choose the Mini-Games option from the Kinect Sports main menu, and select 100m dash. Up to four players will be able to compete on the same console. Once you select continue, you will be ready to run the race as normal, but make sure that it is as close to the start time as possible.

Players who take part in the record attempt will be rewarded with an Xbox LIVE Guinness World Record avatar t-shirt.



Last week, England cricketer Graeme Swann, Winter Olympics Gold medallist in skeleton Amy Williams, Olympic medallist in gymnastics Louis Smith and table tennis player Darius Knight got together to practice for the record attempt. During the session, Darius managed to set a benchmark time of 9.20 seconds in the 100m sprint, so those of you who are really competitive have an extra target to aim for during your race.



There will also be additional DLC heading to Kinect Sports soon. The "Kinect Sports: Calorie Challenge" add-on will see "your favourite lunch foods and snacks" becoming your Avatar Calorie Rivals. Players will compete against different food mascots, as each one "represents a calorie goal to burn off through a series of challenges set within an allotted time period". Here is a full list of your competitors, and the calorie goal that they represent:

• Blazing Banana (92 calories)
• Supersonic Soda (133 calories)
• Mighty Milk (198 calories)
• Peppy Pizza (302 calories)
• Chocolate Challenger (416 calories)








Despite the trailer stating that the add-on is currently available from the marketplace, it actually isn't released until April 29th. The add-on will cost 320 MSP and will add ten achievements worth a total of 250G. There will also be two new avatar awards available.
