DICE Helping BioWare with Mass Effect 3

By Jonathan Barnes, 5 years ago
The Belgian magazine CHIEF unearthed an interesting little tidbit about the ongoing development of BioWare's Mass Effect 3. It appears as if DICE (developers of Battlefield: Bad Company 2) are lending a hand in the development process.

In more exact terms, DICE is assisting BioWare with Mass Effect 3's weapons, the sounds they make, how they alter the environment into which they are fired, the details of how the projectiles fly through space and the distance the projectiles travel. In short... they're helping to make the guns fire good, straight and loud.

Mass Effect 3 is set to be released this holiday. Stay tuned next week for more details on Mass Effect 3!

I've never played any of the Battlefield series, but the rep of DICE has me VERY excited about this news.

Making guns sound, look and feel good is what DICE is best at, so this is promising!

I like this idea, and I hope they add as much realism to futuristic weapons as they can.

That's pretty neat. Won't help steer me toward a purchase but...DICE has some of the best sound work I have seen on the 360 without a doubt.

Let's hope it's just guns and not multiplayer that DICE is doing.

Really good news considering how many audio and sound awards DICE has won or been nominated for.
Is it really an achievement if it's easy or everyone has it?

That is really cool, DICE should hire themselves out to do that for a lot of franchises.

ok this is a list of the games DICE have been known to make or have assisted in since 2008:
Battlefield: Bad Company, Heroes, 1943, Play4Free, Bad Company 2, 3, Bad Company 2: Vietnam.
Medal of Honor, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Need For Speed: Sift 2 Unleashed, Mass Effect 3.

If that is NOT Overkill, i do not know what it means anymore
