Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition FAQ

On June 7th, Capcom will be releasing the Arcade Edition DLC for Super Street Fighter IV. The Arcade Edition DLC will set you back 1200 MSP and it should be available in all regions.

If you do not want to purchase the DLC as you like having a box for your games, or perhaps you were waiting to grab Super Street Fighter IV until after all the DLC was available, well you are in luck. A boxed version named Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be available on June 28th for $39.99.

If you do not want to purchase the Arcade Edition DLC but still want to play online, you can! An Update Kit DLC will be available on June 7th so that you can still play online and spectate matches involving those with the Arcade Edition. You will not be able to use or play against the new characters with just the Update Kit. In addition, the new replay channel features; Replay Follower, My Channel Advanced and the Elite Channel will not be available without the Arcade Edition DLC.

Match making lobbies will function differently depending on what DLC the combatants have downloaded. For example, those with just the Upgrade Kit can only create basic, SSFIV lobbies without the rebalanced characters. Those with Arcade Edition can create AE-only lobbies or Both. AE-only lobbies are just as the name implies, only those with the Arcade Edition DLC can participate. Both lobbies, will include everyone, but the settings change based on the match ups. If someone with the basic SSFIV plays someone with Arcade Edition, characters will be balanced as they are in basic SSFIV, instead of the re-balanced Arcade Edition.

Users with Arcade Edition can toggle between versions, as shown in these screens:

Being able to toggle versions is important not only with regards to match ups, but your Battle Points (BP) and Player Points (PP) will be tracked separately for each version. BP/PP will only rise/fall if playing against someone with just the basic SSFIV. AE BP/AE PP will only rise/fall if playing against someone with the Arcade Edition.

The Arcade Edition DLC will come with new achievements and four new playable characters: Evil Ryu, Yun, Yang and Oni.
