DTP Entertainment Announces Awesomenauts

Multiplayer battle title to be released on XBLA

Written by Matrarch on 18 May 11 at 17:31

DTP Entertainment announced today that they will be bringing Awesomenauts to the Xbox Live Arcade.

Awesomenauts is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title which draws its inspiration from 80s animated series. The 2D-title will feature mercenaries, such as Russian monkeys with jetpacks, giant robots, and other aliens, fighting for territorial supremacy.

Jasper Koning, co-founder of developer Ronimo Games, stated that the game will be shown at next month's E3.

We are thrilled to surprise the world with Awesomenauts at E3, and look forward to announcing further details then. If [Multiplayer Online Battle Arcade] games and classic animated series were to have a baby, this would be it! They don't make 'em like this anymore.

No details as to a release window or pricing are currently available. Ronimo Games has launched a website for the game that is currently counting down to E3's start date of June 7th. We'll be sure to update with any reveals as they are announced.

I have to admit the initial pitch of 'featuring the 80s cartoons you love!' got me (Voltron and Thudercats, for the win!), but it's more a stylistic thing which was less interesting. Still going to keep an eye on what else they put out though. :)

80's animated series were the greatest! I guess I'll be keeping a lookout for this one at E3!

When I saw the title I thought Scribblenauts on the DS.
But, alas, this game looks the exact opposite (but still completely awesome).

My guess is it's actually going to be 800MSP. Developers almost never release games at 400MSP unless it's a fundraiser or a prequel.

I really like the looks of the game, and I'd happily pay 800MSP for it. I'm just afraid there's a chance they'll push it up to 1200MSP.
