Orcs Must Die!
is an upcoming XBLA action / strategy game where players must defend their fortresses, which are under siege from the aforementioned orcs. To do this, players have to find the "best ways to hack, launch, flatten, gibletize, and incinerate an endless army of filthy orcs and their vile allies", and send those orcs to their graves.
At the start of this month we detailed two of the sadistic looking traps
that players must unlock as they progress through the game. Now we bring you details of four of the other defence strategies. First up is the Wind Belt, a bracelet that allows players to summon gusts of wind towards the orcs.
Harness the power of the wind and kill orcs the eco-friendly way! Shove, push, and launch them into the sharpest, pointiest, boiling-est spots in the fortress. No matter where you blow them, you can’t go wrong!
Next we have the only trap of the day, the Floor Spikes:
The first bread-and-butter trap that a war mage learns to create, the floor spikes are the perfect tool for thinning out the invading orc mob. With oiled steel blades, a sensitive pressure trigger for maximum foot penetration, and a self-cleaning mechanism, this trap provides hours of orc-skewering enjoyment with minimal maintenance.
As the third defence, we have the Elf Archer, many of which can be summoned to help provide a defensive line.
Allies of the Order for centuries, the elves stand ready to come to the aid of fortresses under attack by the orc mob. Deadly accurate with their bows, elven archers are able to fire a volley of arrows in the blink of an eye. If they fall in battle, the power of the rifts will heal them when there’s a break in the action. Just tune them out if they start yammering about birds and plants and “all living things” and the rest of that treehugger nonsense.
Finally, we have the Crossbow, an extremely important defensive weapon.
One of the signature weapons of the war mages, the crossbow is accurate at long range and has a rapid rate of fire. Experts learn to pace their shots and aim for the head for maximum orc-killing efficiency. The crossbow can also fire a special bolt that stuns small groups of enemies.Orcs Must Die!
is due to be released this summer. A price is yet to be confirmed.
