Storm Coming to XBLA

Last year, publisher Zoo Entertainment held their first game development competition for indie developers, and Eko Software's physics-based puzzle game Storm won the Community Favourite award. As a result, the game is now being developed for a release on XBox LIVE Arcade under Zoo's IndiePub label.

In the game, players have to control the weather elements to protect five different kinds of seeds as they are guided through 49 tranquil nature-themed levels set in each of the four seasons. Gusts of wind, torrential downpours and bolts of lightning can all help or hinder your progress. When the seeds reach a safe fertile spot, they grow into trees.

Players must use "three main elements and four secondary elements" to help manouevre the seeds:

The three main elements include wind, lighting and rain. Wind moves seeds around. Lightning can break up rocks, set grass on fire and make seeds jump. Rain maneuvers seeds by filling up holes, extinguishing fires and creating bubbles. Secondary elements both complicate and enhance gameplay. Tornadoes strengthen wind, blowing seeds to higher ground. Bubbles also elevate seeds by enabling them to float, and can be used with wind to transport seeds across longer distances. Snow builds up, creating a cushion for seeds to access higher ground. Finally, ice provides a smooth sliding surface for seeds to move across.
The levels can be played in any of the three game modes. Adventure mode allows players to meander through a level at their own leisure to unlock further levels and progress further; it is effectively the campaign mode. Challenge mode sees players re-attempt levels that they have already unlocked, whilst aiming to beat their previous completion time and scores. Finally, Spirit mode sees players collect special orbs that have been strategically placed throughout the levels in an attempt to score as many points as possible.
