The story of the Batman has no shortage of possible side kicks. Many gamers may pine for Robin, some hold a candle for Nightwing and even others picket for Batgirl. Unfortunately (or fortunately), none of these characters made the cut to be playable in Batman: Arkham City
In an interview with Gamespot
, Rocksteady's Dax Ginn has confirmed that Catwoman will be the second, playable character in their upcoming Batman: Arkham City
Ginn explains the choice with the following:
We're pretty spoiled for characters, that's for sure, but with Catwoman we get a brilliant character who will allow gamers to indulge their darker side. Playing as Batman you have this very rigid moral compass. You're always doing the right thing, delivering justice on the streets of Gotham 24/7. With Catwoman you can take a bit of a walk on the wild side... take a bit of a break from being the defender of Gotham.
Gamers should also rejoice that Catwoman has her own moves, gadgets, fighting style and transportation modes (no cape = no gliding). In short, playing as the femme fatale will give players a whole new experience.
Rocksteady has promised more details on the game will be slowly revealed (some at next week's E3) as we march closer to Batman: Arkham City
's release, which is set for October 18th in North America, October 19th in Australia, and finally in Europe and "other global territories" on October 21st.
