4J Studios Developing Minecraft

4J Studios Developing Minecraft

Ah, the porting specialists

Written by Perpalicious on 17 June 11 at 19:25

Notch announced today on their twitter that 4J Studios will be developing the upcoming Minecraft game.

4J Studios has made a successful career out of porting games such as Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Perfect Dark, and Oblivion for PS3.

According to Notch, 4J “have a very good mentality, and obviously are very talented.”

Minecraft is set to release this winter on XBLA with Kinect support and cross-platform playability with PC.

Minecraft may have been the best $20 I have spent. I'd mark this on my calendar if a date was given.

I think it could be alot of fun Kinect ENABLED, but not Kinect required. And I think the first time I heard about this a couple of days ago, the article mentioned being Kinect enabled, but I can't remember where I read that.

Kinect Enabled? What exactly are you going to do in Minecraft that would make actually moving more fun?

I literally just bought FortressCraft last night. But I like the graphics a lot better on FC anyway. I'm sure it'll be able to stand up to Minecraft when it is out of its first few development stages. Plus, it was only three dollars worth of MSP.

I will put my money down that the graphics will carry over from the computer version. And the whole 8-bit graphic style is intentional, Minecraft wouldn't be Minecraft if it didn't have it's 8-bit touch.

I'm excited for this release, cross platform capability sounds great! And the thought of chopping trees down by swinging my hands in the air at my Kinect sounds like fun. (Note to 4J Studios: Please do make Kinect an option, don't make it a must.)

It could still be it's iconic touch but have a HD texture pack, or atleast make some Texture pack add-ons

I actually played my friend's FortressCraft before I had ever touched Minecraft and it was so uninteresting that I almost avoided Minecraft altogether. They simply don't compare. The only people I've seen who try to do so have never actually touched Minecraft and have no idea what they're missing.
