TA Gaming Stats - June 20th to June 26th 2011

Latest weekly game and achievement stats for TA members

Written by Dog of Thunder on 03 July 11 at 09:55

Welcome back to another weekly installment of large, impressive numbers. This week address a long running issue people have had with the "Top Achievements Won" category and now that we have decent games being released on a weekly basis again, I predict it will be like this more often then not.

This report is for the period June 20th to June 26th 2011.

Games Started

34,110 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 60,705 games between them (1,352 different games).

Hail to the King, Again, Baby..

Duke reigns for the second week as the most popular game to fire up and pop an achievement. Alice: Madness Returns climbs over the slowly falling L.A.Noire for the second spot, which surprises me just a little as I thought Alice would fall under gamer's radars this time of year. Kudos to the debuting F.E.A.R. 3 on a very strong showing.

And did anyone think Child of Eden would be a hit? Am I the only one that underestimated this crazy, psychedelic shooter?

Top Retail Games Started

Not only do people enjoy free achievements, as evidenced by Kinect Fun Labs: Kinect Me and Kinect Fun Labs: Googly Eyes remaining in the Top 5, but people also like games for 200 MSP. Bejeweled Blitz LIVE is not only my mother's favorite game on Facebook, but the biggest mover of the week. Being discounted to under the price of a Happy Meal makes you pretty popular.

Trenched debuted well, that whole not available in the European Union business does not seem to be keeping Trenched down. A week before the actual Magic 2012 is released (pre-release events are July 9th!), Magic:DoTP 2012 is on top as the most popular arcade game of the week.

Top Arcade Games Started

Games Completed

6,283 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 8,784 games between them (938 different games).

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, Fallout: New Vegas is finally off the list! It took a week off before, so we will see if it reappears next week. Until then, let's marvel at the staying power of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean and Portal 2. Those two have been pretty popular this summer though only one involves the soothing vocal styling of J. Jonah Jameson.

Top Retail Games Completed

Harm's Way is back! For the ten....one....fine, zilch of you that worried about the fate of this little gem. Among these completions only Magic: DotP 2012 has a price tag. I for one, am looking forward to playing the second Magic title as it has no "Unlock Everything" achievement.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Achievements Won
56,449 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 803,895 achievements online between them (37,537 different achievements).

Ladies, gentlemen and even you Jayour, I present to you an "Achievements Won" category the likes of which you have never seen in your lives. This week we have four titles represented. Not only that, but the #1 Achievement is from a piece of DLC. Which means this list includes DLC for a retail title (L.A.Noire), a first run retail game (F.E.A.R.3), a debuting arcade title (Trenched) and an arcade title that had a steep discount (Bejeweled Blitz LIVE).

Way to diversify!

Top Achievements Won

Next week we wrap up the month of June and prepare ourselves for the Bean Dive's impact on the stats.

Something's not right here. If 2986 people started Duke Nukem, then there should a lot be more Duke achievements in the achievements won section.

Or am I missing something, was it excluded for some reason? Is that the way they fixed the issue that was mentioned in the intro?

Don't get this either. Surely theres an achievement in Duke Nukem which over 1.171 people got right at the beginning of the game.

Yea, since the game started stat is tracked on this site, and the site only lists the game as started when you have an achievement, then at the very least there were 2986 1st achievements, so the only way it could have missed the achievement list is if there are at least 3 different possible first achievements.. and they were split evenly :P

I contributed +1 Duke Nukem 3D to the XBLA games started stat! Although to be fair I've played that game inside out since I was a little boy.

I actually knew Child of Eden would be a hit--I mean, Rez was amazing and its quite popular as I understand...

I contributed to starting... Duke Nukem, and Bejeweled Blitz Live (not liking it much compared to other Bejeweleds so far), and to getting Megatonnage in BBL - the easiest achieve in that game, not surprised that made it.

And there were, 4 in fact.

Duke Nukem ForeverOne-Eyed FreakThe One-Eyed Freak achievement in Duke Nukem Forever worth 10 pointsDefeat the Cycloid

Duke Nukem ForeverDrawringsThe Drawrings achievement in Duke Nukem Forever worth 10 pointsDoodle something on the whiteboard in SP

Duke Nukem ForeverSunday, Black SundayThe Sunday, Black Sunday achievement in Duke Nukem Forever worth 7 pointsShoot down the blimp above the stadium

Duke Nukem ForeverFBTThe FBT achievement in Duke Nukem Forever worth 13 pointsGet knocked down 10 times

Considering none of those could have gone above 1171 in the time period, and they'd all have to at least have ~740, that's pretty likely with a range of 330.

Again, I suggest showing the top 10 instead of top 5's all the time. I'd like to see what surprises are hidden off these lists.

It's nice to finally see more than one game in the top achievements won. (The week of Kinect Fun Labs games doesn't really count.)
Dog of Thunder - $4,544 raised for Extra-Life. Team TA will obliterate the $5k goal.

Nice to see that the Top Retail Games Started isn't dominating the Top Achievements Won this week. Less Duke and no Alice in the top 10 shocking

This is an interesting question. You would think that at least half of the people who started it would have popped at least one of those achievements (plus Turd Burglar, which was actually the first one I popped).

I'll take the bait, why are the WP7 games a travesty & nasty stain. Is is because they aren't on the Xbox or that many of them are too "easy"? Does the travesty part also pertain to the PC too?

Then again, they wouldn't be too impressive really because not many people on this have one of those yet (although I do).
