Xbox LIVE Rewards Comes to Canada

Xbox LIVE Rewards Comes to Canada

Now open to residents of the US, Canada and the UK

The Xbox LIVE Rewards scheme was introduced back at the start of December 2010, and rewards both Free and Gold LIVE members for doing simple tasks, or purchasing select marketplace content. Previously the program had only been open to residents of the United States and United Kingdom, but the FAQ has now been updated to specify that residents of Canada have now been added too.

Bear in mind that it takes up to 36 hours for your gamertag to be linked to your rewards account once you have signed up. Members can only earn reward points once your rewards account is active - prior transactions do not count. Here is a list of activities that will earn you reward points, but please see the terms and conditions for full details on earning rewards:

US and Canada residents have to activate and use a new Netflix subscription on Xbox LIVE to gain the equivalent 100 MSP earned by UK Sky subscribers

The 'purchase select Xbox LIVE Marketplace content' activity varies each month. July's requirement is the purchase of two Xbox LIVE Arcade games priced at 800 MSP or more. Doing this rewards members with a 200 MSP rebate.

All rewards points are displayed in your account as pending. Once you have earned 100 or more pending points, they will be deposited into your Xbox LIVE account by the 15th of the following month. These points will expire on June 30th, 2012, the day that the Rewards program is due to finish.

I'm glad to see MS expanding Xbox LIVE Rewards. I just wish the amount of MSP we can earn wasn't so ridiculously miniscule.

I have earned 600 points this years, its pretty good. It is at first anyway, after you have done the 'first' tasks like renewing online what you can earn slows down. Still, its a good idea, i just wish it was linked to achievements.

The rewards system is actually pretty good. I've gotten 640 points from it so far, and considering how little I spend, that isn't bad.

It's worth signing up to it, simply because there isn't a downside to it.

Just checked my own stats, and I've gotten 1510MSP through the rewards program. It's definitely worth it if you pay attention to the special offers they have each month (5% back on all Marketplaces one month, I just went nuts buying Rock Band DLC).

Good to see it's expanding, but to be honest, I never really use it. I've gained 140 points, but I keep forgetting to do the survey to get the 20pts/
Multiplayer progress in GTA IV reset. Slightly annoyed. $1,013,185 out of $5,000,000.

I think they'll Renew it by then if it's popular enough.

Here in the netherlands we have something similiar in the shops.

A.e. you buy a 1 year gold subscription for 55 euros and you'll get 1200 (or 800 not sure) msp with it.

But I want the buy this or that and the survey thing here too D:

Zero reward for the single most expensive thing ...... MS Points. The money I spent on points in the last 6 months dwarves what i paid for a 12 month sub 10 fold.

Even if they gave you 10 points for buying x amount of points it would be something,

According to the terms and conditions:

The current phase of the Program begins at 5:00 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time (“GMT”) on December 1, 2010, and is scheduled to end at 3:59 p.m. GMT on June 30, 2012 (the “Program Period”), but the Sponsor reserves the right to shorten, extend, modify, suspend, or cancel the Program, at their discretion, at any time...

I guess depending on how it goes now, it will determine what happens to the program later down the line.
